Shenyang Agricultural University (SYAU) was founded in 1952, and at the same time, Department of Agricultural Economics was established and authorized to enroll undergraduates in Agricultural Economics. College of Economics and Management was founded based on Department of Agricultural Economics in 1994.The College of Economics and Management (CEM) consists of 6 departments and a Post-Doctoral Station in Agricultural Economics and Management. It offers 3 doctoral programs in Agricultural Economics and Management (first class discipline), Forestry Economics and Management, and Rural Finance, and 4 master’s-degree programs in Agricultural Economics and Management, Forestry Economics and Management, Rural Finance and Accounting. For undergraduate study, it provides 5 bachelor’s degree programs — Accounting, Finance, Agro-forestry Economics & Management, International Economics & Trade, and Marketing. CEM has a strong teaching team of 70 people currently, including 12 professors, 20 associate professors, 8 doctoral supervisors, as well as 28 supervisors of master’s candidates. Up to now, totally over 6500 students (bachelor’s, master’s or doctor’s degree holders) have graduated from CEM, and they have made tremendous contribution to the society in their specialized fields. In addition, it is also equipped with excellent teaching facilities, laboratories and a reference room housing 30,000 books and journals.
In recent years, the staff of CEM has published scores of academic works and textbooks, over 500 papers in international and national journals, and completed 8 national research projects. Over 100 papers and research reports were awarded prizes of different levels by various organizations. CEM is now undertaking 5 national projects and over 80 provincial research programs.
