The College of Biological Science and Technology was established in 1999 by merging four departments of Biology, including botany and plant physiology, biochemistry, biotechnology and sericulture. Currently, there are seventy faculties in the College, and the College enrolls over 600 undergraduates and 300 graduate students.
The School possesses more than 10 research groups, covering the following areas: biochemistry and molecular biology, plant biology, physiology, cell biology, developmental biology, microorganism and enzyme engineering、bioinformatics, evolutionary biology, ecology, and etc. The College makes every effort to provide high quality teaching, such that the students will be able to obtain a solid knowledge background and proficient experiment skill. The College tries to foster a culture, within which students and faculties desire to conduct creative research task. Currently the college has undertaken more than 20 research projects including National Natural Science Foundation projects and other provincial or ministry level projects. The College also encourages its faculties to undergo frequent exchange and close collaboration with researchers from universities in other parts of the world.
