Minister Han Changfu held a meeting with Ms. Matia Chowdhury, Minister of Agriculture of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, in Beijing on May 13, 2015.
Minister Han noted that enhancing China-Bangladesh agricultural cooperation is conducive to upgrading the agricultural development of both countries and ensuring regional food security.To further bilateral agricultural cooperation, Minister Han proposed the following: (1) Promote the implementation of the MOU on agricultural cooperation between China and Bangladesh and hold the Second Meeting of the Joint Committee on Cooperation in Agriculture at an earlier date; (2) Promote agricultural investment; (3) Expand demonstration and pilotscale of high-quality and high-yield crops varietiesand improve agricultural technology; (4) Enhance agricultural S&T exchange; and (5) Promote agricultural trade and sustainable development.
Minister Matia Chowdhury fully agreed with Minister Han's comments, hoping that the priorities of the bilateral cooperation will include hybrid rice, mini agricultural machinery, farmland irrigation and capacity building.
Officials from relevant MOA departments and Bangladeshi Ambassador to China also attended the meeting.
