From September 13th to 16th, organized by Shenyang Science and Technology Association and Shenyang Agricultural University, 1st International Symposium on Global Change and Biological Invasion was held in Shenyang. More than 100 experts and scholars worldwide participated in the meeting.    
   At the meeting, Professor Zhang Yulong, president of SYAU, attended and addressed the symposium. 31 specialists delivered academic reports on the findings in the related fields. And the topics of the reports varies from global change trend and its cause, impact of individual, population, community and ecosystem on global change and its adaptive mechanism and mechanism, harm, control and risk assessment of exotic plant invasion and the pattern, mechanism and consequences of global change and biological invasion. To better cope with global change and plant invasion, decision was made during the meeting that SYAU will be the organizers of the symposium and event will be held every two years as an international seminar on global change and biological invasion.
   Also present at the event were Professor Li Tianlai, vice president of SYAU, Party Secretary Ji Lanzhu of Shenyang Applied Biological Research Institute, CAS, Vice president Li Hongyin of Shenyang Science and Technology Association and faculty and students from related college and departments. Among the co-organizers were departments of SYAU including Office of Subject Construction, International Exchange Office, Office of Science and Technology and College of Biotechnology.
