From December 27th to 28th, the finals of the Postgraduate Rural Revitalization and Agricultural Science and Technology Promotion + Innovation Competition and the Third Science and Technology Courtyard Challenge was held in Sanya, Hainan Province. 22 univeristy teams nationwide advanced to the national finals. Two teams from SYAU performed outstandingly in the finals, winning the first and second prizes respectively in the national competition, setting a new record of wins for SYAU. Li Bin, Vice president, with other SYAU teachers, led the SYAU teams in the finals with his encouragement well received by the participating students.
SYAU’s College of Land and Environment won the first prize with their entry of Liaoning Bayuquan Grape Science and Technology Courtyard Program，titled “”科技兴农，‘葡’写未来 (Promoting Agriculture with Scientific and Technology and Writing the Future Chapter）”,making in the titile an interesting interchange of the homephone of the Chinese Characters of “谱（pǔ）”and “葡（pú）” with the former meaning "writing or composing" while the latter is the first Character of Grape in Chinese.
The College of Forestry’s entry of Liaoning Kaizuo Wild Apricot Science and Technology Courtyard Program, titled “科技小院‘杏’福种 ，产业振兴惠三农 ( Science and Technology Courtkyard Planting Apricots of Happiness, Industrial Revitalization Benefiting Agriculture, Rural Areas and Farmers) " , also in the title, an agile use of homophone of the Chinese Characters of “杏（xìng)” meaning apricot and “幸(xìng)” in “幸福“ which means happiness in Chinese, won the second prize in the national competition.
In addition, the College of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine’s entry of Liaoning Panjin River Crab Science and Technology Courtyard Program, titled "Rice and Crab Innovation · Youth Assisting Farmers" won the national third prize with its outstanding performance in the regional competition.
Guided by the Ministry of Education Degree and Postgraduate Education Department, and sponsorted by China Association of Degree and Graduate Education and Youth Science and Technology Center of China Association for Science and Technology, this year’s event was entered into by 247 contestant teams nationwide.
SYAU has been focusing on using high-level student innovation competition as a platform to comprehensively test the effectiveness in its talent cultivation, promote the development of academic discipline construction, and guide students to hone their skills for contributing their wisdom to serving rural revitalization, and continuously injecting youthful energy into accelerating the modernization of agriculture and rural areas.
